garish yellow flower '70s wallpaper uncovered during the Green Dream Kitchen renovationMy kitchen remodeling project has become something like an archeological dig. As we remove the old layers, we find all sorts of interesting things! For instance, this flowered wallpaper, which all by itself represents the prevailing aesthetic of the early seventies. We found it on the ceiling, beneath the cabinets we removed.

For those of you who remember our breakfast nook,
it is no more. We have new plans for this area!

Our south wall halfway through demolition. The cabinets and drywall are gone, but the old insulation and wiring are still there. The white plastic bag is covering smelly yellow Romex cable, which was later replaced with metal-sheathed cable.

green dreamhome dining room during kitchen renovation. The table is covered with dishes and there is a microwave on a table.

And how do we get by with no kitchen? Where is all of our stuff? This is our dining room! There’s more on the pool table in the living room. How do we cook? Our garage boasts a crockpot shantytown.
